FYLI LANDFILL CONSTRUCTION
Phase I of the landfill began construction in the late 1990s and was fully operational by 2003–2004.
It covered an area of approximately 36.4 hectares, with a usable capacity of over 17 million cubic meters of waste. It included technical works for sealing, leachate networks, and biogas collection systems.
As the site approached saturation, Phase II of the landfill was put into operation around 2011, on an adjacent area of approximately 30 hectares, with a new capacity of 14.4 million cubic meters. Phase II uses even more advanced management and monitoring technologies.
