As part of the upgrade of the existing Leachate Treatment Facility (LTF) at the Giannitsa landfill, the following works were implemented:

• Expansion of the existing preliminary lift pump station / rainwater leachate collection tank, and construction of a new rainwater leachate tank with a capacity of 2,500 m³.
• Fine screening of incoming leachate.
• Upgrade of the existing Biological Treatment Tank.
• Supply and installation of an ultrafiltration unit with a capacity of 5 m³/h.
• Supply and installation of a two-stage reverse osmosis (RO) unit with a nominal capacity of 70 m³/day.
• Upgrade of the existing disinfection – post-aeration unit
• Upgrade of the existing LTF service building
• Construction of a chemical storage building
• Upgrade of the existing secondary effluent storage ponds
• Construction of a Filtrate Tank
• Installation of an automation system (SCADA)
