Sludge & Leachate Treatment

The facility in Thiva includes an integrated system for managing dewatered sludge and treating leachate, incorporated into the operation of the MBT unit.

• The sludge is mixed with shredded green waste and fed into aerobic reactors for further biological treatment.
• The system features sedimentation tanks and a main filtrate tank made of reinforced concrete, where solids are separated prior to further treatment.
• Leachate is directed to a process water tank and recirculated to the reactors via pumps, ensuring stable moisture conditions for the process.
• The facility is equipped with modern machinery, such as agitators, filters and a SCADA automation system to control quality and performance.
• The design emphasizes durability, energy efficiency and optimal integration into the existing waste treatment plant.
